Rex James Burgdorfer
A financial services professional with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions.
Rex James Burgdorfer is vice president at Juniper Advisory of Chicago, and one of Chicago and Evanston, IL’s leading experts in Healthcare Mergers and Acquisitions, advising all forms of nonprofit hospital systems involved in business combination transactions.
While at Juniper, Rex James Burgdorfer has assisted several dozen hospital companies to evaluate strategic alternatives and complete change-of-control transactions. This includes serving as investment banker to Methodist Medical Center on its merger with UnityPoint Health, Platte Valley Medical Center on its merger with SCL, as well as the sale of Marquette General and Conemaugh Health Systems to Duke LifePoint each for approximately $500 million.
Rex Burgdorfer spent the early part of his career at Morgan Stanley and holds an MBA from Northwestern Unversity. He also holds a BS in finance and economics from the University of Wisconsin. As an undergraduate, he interned with Morningstar’s Alternative Investment Group, prior to the IPO, where he compiled information for the creation of the Morningstar Hedge Fund Database.
In addition, Rex Burgdorfer established and sat on the Auxiliary Board of the Sue Duncan Children’s Center, a not-for-profit group dedicated to delivering after school services to children with financial disadvantages.
When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young family in Evanston, IL, investing in Chicago’s growing entrepreneurial community, and staying active by pursuing outdoor sports like cycling and skiing.
